Mayor Pro Tem Davis Seen Partying for the Holidays After Cancelling Homelessness Advisory Committee Meetings

While Tracy’s homeless suffered through the holidays, Tracy Homeless Committee Chair Eleassia Davis was full of Christmas joy at local holiday parties after cancelling the remaining meetings for Tracy’s most important committee. Apparently there was time for egg nog and tasty snacks but no time to conduct the People’s business.
The last time the committee met was on October 19th, 2023. They also canceled the most recent committee hearing scheduled for January 18th.
Eleassia advocated for cancelling public hearings during December because the holidays are a “busy time for families,” and she didn’t want people to miss an opportunity to have a voice at city council. This is “the people’s chamber’ after all,” she declared, so it wasn’t fair to the people.
Bless her heart.
But, true to her word, Eleassia was more than busy this holiday season. It can’t be easy hitting every holiday mixer in town, but it sure seemed that she was up to the task.

Meanwhile, while the parties went on, so did problems with the city’s homeless.

Below are snapshots from the recent police blotter posted on the Tracy Press website:

Yes, yes, yes. We understand that the 8 repurposed shipping containers arrived in late December. Better late than never.

The issue here is the top person at the city assigned to dealing with the homeless issue decided to cancel all meetings right before the holidays. The problems of homelessness do not disappear because it’s the holidays. They aren’t packing-up and heading home to their families. There were a multitude of calls to the police to deal with homeless issues between November, December, and now. Davis was AWOL at holiday parties.
It is 97 days and running since Council Member Davis last chaired a Homeless Committee meeting. Does she think the homeless crisis is over? Is it more important for her to have a holiday spirit with her buddies Evans and English? She owes the public an explanation.

The Homelessness Advisory Committee meetings should have been continued in November, December, and January. There should NOT have been 7 cancelled meetings in 2023.

It's failed leadership on her part.
